PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE — July 22, 2026
Speed humps were approved for streets in the 5th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th districts, plus a full reconstruction of N. 38th St. and S. 18th St. One donor is even paying the assessments for the S. 11th St. humps. Residents testified about 40-45 mph speeding in 25 mph zones and a past crash involving a child on a bike.
PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE — July 1, 2026
Residents along Cleveland Ave between 43rd and 68th clashed over whether speed humps and traffic circles will slow dangerous speeding or just punish daily drivers and snowplows. Supporters reported 65-mph speeding, road rage and kids playing near the road; the project passed with Chair Coggs abstaining.
